A 5-minute savings tip
This simple savings tip is a 5-minute way to ensure that you aren't losing money on your credit card bill.
As it turns out, it's quite common for people to make mistakes when manually entering credit card deduction amounts (restaurants are a prime example of where this frequently happens). Nobody's perfect, but that doesn't mean you should be paying more than you have to!
Luckily, it's quite easy to avoid the scenario. Hang on to your credit card receipts from restaurants and other business where the deduction amount is entered manually. Then compare them against your credit card statement and make sure that all the charges match up.
Computer tip: If you manage your credit cards online, you can pull up your online credit card statement at the end of each week. To check your statement quickly, press Ctrl–F and search for the totals from your receipts. If the exact dollar amount you're searching for doesn't turn up, there's been some sort of mistake.
If you find a total that doesn't correspond with your receipt, a call to your credit card company will set things right.
So try it out for yourself! By taking 5 minutes to look over your finances, you could avoid those 'extra' charges that would otherwise go undetected.
