Alberta…the land of Strange Attractions!
Another week checked off the calendar. Man oh man, time sure flies when you’re living Young & Free and having fun!
Do you know what I love most about this time of year my Young & Free friends? The anticipation and excitement that comes with knowing that Spring is JUST around the corner. The snow is melting, the sun stays in the sky longer, and I don’t know about all of you, but it’s a glorious thing when you wake up in the morning and hear birds chirping.
With Spring also comes a time of preparation, because we all know what season inevitably follows …Summer – a time of patios, flip flops and ROAD TRIPS! One the best summer vacations that I’ve taken in a long time is when a group of us packed up the car with camping gear, beach towels and hit the dusty Alberta highway. Let me tell you my friends, we saw some pretty phenomenal things and all without leaving the borders of our beautiful province!
Did you know that Alberta has the most “World’s Largest…” roadside attractions in all of Canada?? It’s true! From a life size Starship Enterprise to a giant pyrogy with a fork stuck in it (seriously – I’ve seen it)…Alberta has it all! http://www.roadsideattractions.ca/alberta.htm
So why not this summer, instead of planning a trip to Europe or a vacation by the ocean, you save some coin and explore the zany attractions that make our province so darn loveable?
Just think of it…you can get a group of buddies together, split up into 2 teams and have a contest to see who can get their picture taken with the most Alberta attractions in one week. The week ends with everyone meeting up in the mountains for a group camping trip, with the losing team footing the bill for the campsite. It’s fun, competitive (Oh how I LOVE a good challenge) and gives you the chance to find out some pretty cool facts about your home province!
As yours truly has done a trip like this in the past, I can officially give you the “Sacha’s Guarantee of a Laughin’ Good Time” seal of approval.
Have a great Monday friends, and get planning!
