Mike's current situation:

Hi there! I’m Mike Ng, a 23 year old NAIT Marketing Graduate from Edmonton, Alberta. I run a photo/video production company here in Edmonton. I also coach swimming part time at Kinsmen Sports Centre.

I am a local socialite that is passionate about photography, music, and anything viral. It’s extremely easy to make me laugh and I love bacon.

Mike's blog post:

Saving Money? What’s that?

So we’re at that age where we are making purchase decisions everyday of our lives and for a lot of us, we’re making these decisions several times a day. Weather if we’re choosing McDonalds over the home made lunch or buying those $300 dollar brand name jeans over sale jeans, every purchase matters!

As a 23 year old, living on my own, I definitely need to watch my spending habits. With every pay cheque I get, I set aside money for rent, food, gas, and a portion goes towards my savings account. Everything else is spending money. I keep that savings account untouched so I can live a bit more comfortably when I’m older.

Now a lot of us are still in school or just about to go to college/university. Being a full time student makes it hard for us to find the time to earn that extra cash. I’m going to tell you something crazy in just a second. But first, who hates paying for those services fees at the bank? I do! I mean, $8, $9, maybe $10 a month? Really? Here’s an amazing fact: If you are between 17-25 years of age, you can sign up for the Young & Free Chequing Account. The Young & Free Chequing Account offers NO SERVICE FEES! Amazing! This is an excellent way to start saving that money of yours with out being deducted monthly!

We all love spoiling ourselves. And I definitely think we should from time to time! Just make sure you’re taking care of the future you. Managing our money wisely now will set us up for a bright future!

Mike
