Here is Francis' current situation:
I am a 21 year old student from Calgary AB. I love to document life and the world around me; my whole perspective on life has changed since I picked up a camera. Nothing brings me more joy than to connect with other people in the world and share.
Next up I will be shooting Alberta Fashion week from March 20- 27th, a Gallery opening for Freshflow Event Management, and continue to submit pictures and articles for Stimulus magazine.
Here is Francis' blog post:
The potential we hold as a generation is immeasurable. The world stage is now accessible to anybody with a computer and an internet connection. Free media and information is being processed, transferred and viewed from all corners of the world. The potential and opportunities that this affords our generation are so vast and numerous that infinite doesn’t even begin to describe it. We are a generation that grew up on the internet, and the internet grew up with us. With a click of a button or a swing of a mouse we have access to tv shows, movies, encyclopædias, pictures, you name it and chances are you can find it on the internet. Think of what this means for us living in these times? I can instant message a friend, who moved to Ireland, while I skype with a colleague in Guam, and at the same time email a pen pal in Venezuela, while I facebook an old classmate, and Twitpic my breakfast here in Calgary. We can stay connected to each other and all it’d take is an ISP and some cat5 cables.
You’re essentially a superhero. You have the superpowers to spread information, share your love and passion for you city, and showcase your creativity on a world stage all from the comfort of your own bedroom. You can even do it in your underwear, as I am doing right now. The internet and social networking sites have brought as all together, and it is up to us to use it to our advantage. We are a generation with so much to say and give back to the world, and the world is surely listening. Our future as a generation is bright; we live in a world of boundless opportunities, and in a world that is no longer constricted by borders. Together we can literally change the world, one mouse click at a time.
We hold an invaluable resource, the potential to connect in ways only imagined before us. We live in a time where our only limitation is how far we are willing to take things. We now live in a world where our biggest obstacle is ourselves. We can take things as far as we have ever dreamed of taking them; the stage has been set, now what we do on it is all up to us.
