Is Paula Mickelson the Young & Free Spokesperson?

22-year-old Paula Mickelson from Lloydminster has just thrown her many hats into the ring to be the Young & Free Spokesperson.

Here is Paula's blog post:

"This is going to sound lame, but what matters most to me is being happy. It drives me crazy when I hear people putting themselves down or judging others for their lifestyle. Being able to be proud of who you are can be tough, even tougher when you're just figuring out who you are. But hey, "If it feels good do it, even if you shouldn't. Don't let people mess you around."

"If Sloan can sing it over international airwaves, it's might just have some real meaning behind it. I’m making it seem simple, but I know there can be a lot of big expectations to live up to. I'm talking career, a place to live, maybe even a husband or wife and kids...ahh!!! It can be overwhelming. I’m still working on not running out of apples every week.

"But I'm telling you, when you're late for work, trudging through three feet of snow, uphill, with one boot on, after both of your vehicles broke down and your dog ran away, (okay, an unlikely situation, but you get my point), if you can just remember to smile, life can only get better. So be happy. It matters."

This is Paula's current situation:

"In June I graduated from the University of Western Ontario with an Honors BA, Specialization in Kinesiology (that's a long way of saying I played sports for marks). My dream is to work for a professional sports team as a Physiotherapist. To do that I need to get my Masters degree in Physical Therapy, and to do that I need tuition! So, I am taking this year off to pay back some student loans, earn some money, and have a little fun. I work at Dynamite Oilfield Services, I teach a stretch class at Alison Lamont School of Dance, and I'm working for a few local sports teams. I'm finally getting to do some more traveling, catch up with friends, play some sports, and hang out with my family."

That's four complete applicants! Make sure to get your application in by our new extended deadline of Friday, November 9, 2007.
