Sharing Feels Good

Ever since you stepped foot into your elementary school, sharing has been stressed quite heavily. Why? Because sharing is awesome! It's one of those few acts that makes everyone feel warm and fuzzy inside. So of course Servus Credit Union is all about sharing as well. Profit sharing is one of those big differences between a bank and a credit union. At the end of the year, Servus Credit Union shares its profits with its members. Young & Free members are automatically eligible for profit sharing, just by having a free chequing account! At a bank, those profits are given back to the shareholders. This is good if you're a shareholder, but for the rest of us it means absolutely nothing.

So how much did Servus Credit Union share with its members this year? $44.3 million! That's a lot of loonies! Everyone at Servus is thrilled with this year's profit share numbers. When I went out to do some sharing of my own and talk with Servus employees, it was very clear that sharing really does feel good.
