Webthing of the Week: YouTube.com!
What better way to bring this fantastic movie-themed Y&F week to a close than to feature the best video-sharing website as a Webthing of the Week.
Launched only three short years ago, YouTube now hosts (deep breath) over 83.4 million videos for online entertainment (...and education. Sometimes).
YouTube has also made a huge social impact and has helped shape "Internet fame". In some cases, YouTube users' popularity has led them to opportunities in traditional media. Homemade YouTube celebs have landed record contracts, commercial and movie roles, television interviews, and even careers in sketch comedy. Not too shabby.
For this week's Webthing, I am going to share a few of my favourite YouTube videos in a couple different categories.
If you have an all-time favourite YouTube video, please please please post a description and the link as a comment below so that I – I mean... so that everyone – can watch it too.
