Scholarship Essay Entry – Akeem B.

Since my life took a turn for the better six years ago, I have continued to adopt the theory that health is preeminent to success. To often, our mental and bodily health is overlooked as insignificant towards meeting particular personal milestones we set for ourselves. It is my hope that being resourceful in the field of personal well being will bring about a change in the societal landscape. My vision is based in the potential people of any community have to improve the quality of living if they remain healthy. My passion lays in sports, but I have seen first hand the result simple exercise can have on our psyche and self confidence. My ultimate dream is to become the Prime Minister of Canada, and run my campaign on lifestyle and implanting exercise as a staple to a fluent and prosperous society.

However, the obvious problem with recreation are the restraints associated with participating so many people are entrapped with: cost, availability and most notably time. To remove these restraints I intend to send my message home whenever the public has an opportunity to hear my story. Once I have finished my undergraduate work and achieved my Bachelor of Arts focused on recreation and communal planning, one of my first goals is to become involved with community planning at the municipal level helping with projects and functions. Eventually after attaining a solid leadership role, I will strive to bring together a group of people who share in my enthusiasm for active living so our programs and ideas develop a larger sphere of influence.

Furthermore, I desire greatly to become a premier public speaker and become fluent in French. With the hope of having no limits in which my message can be heard. I want to make exercise and active living as essential to proper liveliness as paying taxes. Also I aspire to enter and finish law school at a credited institution. Anything I can do to get my foot into the door with politics, government and public speaking. I wish to supply countless options for people to indulge in the area of active living. If elected to public office, I would push for more recreation facilities and cheaper costs. More parks and paths with a variety of classes and programs for people to choose and find a passion with, from karate to hot yoga.

Hence my true drive in life is to become the first black Prime Minister of Canada. My ambition is originated in a place where people will here what I have to say and take it or leave it. I have a message that I will try profusely to get across to whoever will listen. I believe a physically healthy community, is a productive and positive one. If this aspect of community can be handled, then everything else fundamental to a functional society will come much easier because we will have more energy, passion and motivation to never allow us to slow down.
