Scholarship Essay Entry – Amanda P.

Dreams, aspirations and visions are the beginning of any change to the world. Some great men and women have been able to sway the views of many through words spoken with passion. I am a firm believer that greatness can come from a collaboration of differing views of the same world we all inhabit. More and more children are being born and more and more voices are being raised. In these voices are similar dreams, aspirations and visions that have hopes to change this world for the better. Unfortunately, many of these voices require education to learn to write down their thoughts, money to pave the way to these thoughts and jobs to maintain the ability to continue to strive for a greater tomorrow.

Businessmen and women may hold the power to assisting developing countries. They are the driving force behind our strong Canadian economy. It is because of their innovative companies that we have the money to support third world initiatives. They offer demanded services to the public that generates enough profit to hire workers and increase cash flow within the country. Profits can then be recycled into the company, given as wages to employees, etc. Afterwards the money collected from the business can be portioned into providing assistance to third world countries and well as continuing the cash flow within Canada.

I aspire to become one of these successful businesspeople through the application of the Bachelor of Commerce Program I am currently enrolled in. By building a thriving business within my community, I can first support the people within the area to contribute to the assurance of a strong country. My company will help fund school initiatives towards environmental and social betterment. Many elementary, junior high and high schools within Alberta encourage programs that provide students with the knowledge and ability to assist in global change. Being the president of a local company, I would provide funding to the local schools to aid in these efforts.

As my company would expand, I would begin to require a larger staff base. Many of the tasks that were originally assigned locally could now be international. Within my schooling I have learned that many countries that are struggling economically have citizens who dream of becoming an entrepreneur. It is these individuals that have a passion, such as myself, for business. They strive to change the condition of their country through innovation and structure. These people have the voices of the future, but little income to support their efforts. By providing opportunity I could assist these people while still generating income for the foundation of assistance, my company. Not only do I envision this as being a method of gathering people with different experiences than my own, I see it as an economical way to continue my contribution to change. Although people do have an expiry date, corporations do not. When my time comes to pass on, the values of my company will continue to aid both the local and global community.
