Why Teachers are Changing the World
Every person has the ability and the talent to change our world; it is the responsibility of us individuals to discover the talents that each of us harbour to make our world, and our communities, a better place. I believe that making a difference in the way a person views the world starts at a young age, thus why teachers are such an important tool in nurturing our talents and the way that we view the world.
I am currently entering my third year of the Bachelor of Education program at Red Deer College, and you are probably wondering "what does this person have to offer to the world?" In response, I have everything to offer to this world. As a teacher, I will influence the lives, not only of the students in my classroom, but of those around me as well.
A teacher's profession is not always easy, sometimes there are students who seem to be hopeless causes that everyone, including the student's parents, have given up on. A good teacher will recognize such a student, but instead of trying to figure out a way to get the student out of the classroom, the teacher will try to discover ways that encourage such a student to enjoy learning. In addition, a good teacher will also be able to discover and encourage the development of whatever talents that child will have to offer to our world.
Already, in my most recent summer job, I have experienced children that many people would see as hopeless causes. When working with these children, it was extremely difficult to persevere because the mind set of such children is to test the patience of those around them. When working with these children, I learned that the most important virtues that I, or any teacher, must possess are patience and diligence. By possessing these virtues, I will be able to persevere in trying to understand what talents my students have to offer this world, and how I can assist the development of such talents.
Through the possession of such virtues as diligence and patience, I will be a positive role model, not only in my classroom, but in the community as well. Through being a positive role model for others, I will be able make a difference in a child's life, and in my community.
