Scholarship Essay Entry – Damien W.

I dare to dream. I am motivated by my vision of the future. My vision of the future is that all people throughout the world will have access to medication and healthcare. Everyone has a right to live a long and enjoyable life. I am young and free, free to make a difference in the world. i start to make a difference in the world by making a difference in my community. I regularly volunteer at my church. I help with the setup and the working of the events that we put on. I encourage other youth that attend Sunday mass to get involved with the church and to make a difference in their community.

Chemistry and the human body fascinate me. I also take great pride in helping people and find joy in knowing that I am making a difference in someone's life. I am moving to Edmonton and attending the University of Alberta. I am going into my first year, and I am taking chemistry as my major. Upon completion I will enter the pharmacy program.

In all developing countries the people who are often suffering the most often cannot afford or do not have access to medication that can save their lives. Thousands of people die from preventable illness all over the world due to lake of healthcare. Unfortunately this also happens in developed countries like the United States. I want to change this. I am going to become a pharmacist and develop more cost efficient medication that all people will be able to afford and have access to. Organizations like WHO and Doctors Without Borders would them be able to help more people and save more lives since they will be able to buy more medication from donations. Many lives can be easily saved with proper medication and healthcare.
