Scholarship Essay Entry – Dominic C.

My ambition in my career is to treat all my patients with the respect that they deserve. Also I strive to give each patient in my care the best quality of care possible so that they can be diagnosed properly and so they can experience the least amount of discomfort possible. Often when patients are in the hospital they can be very stressed I make every effort to make them more comfortable in the situation. In my everyday life I also try and help others out by volunteering. I have spent time cooking for the Salvation Army. Food is something that every human being needs I feel that if I can help someone fill this need is a little deed that can do to put a smile on their face and help them get through another day. I also have used my love of dance to teach and encourage children to dance. For 2 years I have volunteered my Saturdays to teach dance classes. It brings me joy to see the kids enjoying themselves in class. It also makes me feel great that they are participating in a physical activity while having a great time. Receiving hugs at the beginning of class and seeing them leave with a smile on their face when they leave makes me feel as if I have had a positive effect on that child's day and life.

In the future I hope to continue in my career as an x-ray technologist and to eventually start a family. I hope to raise my children with the same beliefs. I want to teach them to help out in the community from an early age so that they too can make a difference in their community. I hope to teach them that small things can brighten someone's day and that there are many small things that can be done around the community to improve other people's quality of life.

When people are nice to others, sometimes it only takes a smile, a gentle pat to give someone a little boost. By sharing your wealth, you help someone have hope, showing that someone care can make a big difference in someone's life.... If more people show caring, the world would be better place to live....
