Scholarship Essay Entry – Elaine M.
I am currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Commerce program at Grant MacEwan and this is my second time going to school, as my first time around I was in Education and realized that was the wrong field for me and I took some time off to think.
What I realized was that with my intellect, attitude and morals I would be a fantastic corporate lawyer - I plan on finishing my law degree and creating my own practice for smaller businesses to come to so I can help them to become the best company they can be with the business knowledge I will learn and with the law and accounting skills I will acquire. I plan on assisting smaller businesses with these legal, accounting and general needs with affordable rates, as I am not looking to make exorbitant amounts of money once my education is completed, but to help create a stronger economic community, hopefully in Edmonton.
In my three years away from school, I joined the business world and I went to work for companies with millions of employees to companies with just under one hundred employees and I've observed how hard it is for smaller companies to break out and I want to help make that easier, as we need to stabilize our own economy before we can help others with theirs. By staying local I will be contributing to my local community and I will be able to help others while earning a living.
All in all, I want to help local business succeed in every possible way, as that is what community is made of, and small businesses definitely deserve a chance to start and grow in any direction they want to. I want to contribute to the overall success of my community by helping in every commercial way that I can.
