Scholarship Essay Entry – Kale T.
My educational and career goals are to become a doctor so that I can help people. I want to enter into the program doctors without borders to help those not as fortunate as ourselves to be living in a violence and fear free environment. To become a doctor take a long time estimated 8 years of schooling and constant leaning after graduation as every day brings new challenges.
I have known all my life that I wanted to do something science related, since I have trouble in English and Social Studies, and by the age of 13 I had decided on becoming a doctor. At that time in grade 8 I had picked doctor for a few different reasons as I do now, like the big houses and nice cars doctors are able to afford. But now being a doctor has a completely different meaning to me.
Being a doctor gives me the chances I want to make a different in my community and potentially the whole world around me. As people around the world call out for help as they are suffering and dying in places like Africa or Haiti, or as the small towns all over Alberta wish that a doctor could come to their town so they wouldn’t have to drive hours to reach the nearest city to be treated.
I plan to start my education at Red Deer College in a two year transfer course taking the necessary classes in order to transfer to University of Alberta in Edmonton after those two years. There I will take another one to two years, depending on the time frame it takes to get admitted to the medical program at either University of Alberta or Calgary. Through hard work and dedication toward my future I plan on being able to help people every day and make my community and society a better place.
