Scholarship Essay Entry – Milo S.
Born and raised in Elk Point, AB I am the first of two children born to Robert and Sherry. I have spent much of my time participating in extracurricular activities, both academic and non. I often volunteer my time; having started a drama club, performed in plays, refereed sports games, shingled roofs, baby sat children, and the list goes on. I am an active member of my community with great leadership skills which I have enhanced by attending an ACCA leadership camp for 4 years. My work experiences are wide and varied although most of my time has been spent at the Elk Point Co-op in their produce department. This fall I plan to take studies in Dramatic Arts at the University of Lethbridge. I chose this school for two major reasons.
First by all accounts it appears to be the best dramatic school in Alberta, and indeed one of the finer ones throughout Canada. Second it is a smaller campus which will provide me with more teacher to student time, enhancing learning.
While in attendance I will be taking a variety of courses. Because the U of L is a liberal arts school I will be studying everything from science to language classes. This is all in supplement to my primary studies which will be in the dramatic aspect of the fine arts program. I have chosen to be an actor because it seemed like a logical choice. It is fun for me and allows me to provide fun for others. I like helping people and although I may not always be able to truly assists them when they're in need, I can make people smile; and laughter is the best medicine.
Will my goals and ambitions change the world; probably not. But if I can change just a few peoples' lives for the better, that will change the world unto itself. And with plans to lead a summer youth drama program, I can bring the change to future generations as well.
