HOW MY DREAMS, AMBITIONS AND VISIONS CAN MAKE MY COMMUNITY AND/OR THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE
Throughout my life, I have been involved in volunteer and community work. Being raised in a family which strongly encouraged this type of involvement, I have grown to appreciate the importance of giving back to my community, helping those in need whenever I can. I can see the value in helping charities and non-profit organizations as they reach out to people around them. Therefore, my vision is to someday play a bigger role in assisting these organizations and non-profit organizations achieve their goals and expectations.

During my university years I plan to get involved and play an active role in groups and programs offered at the university, similar to my past activities. Throughout my junior and high school years I valued being an active member of many groups who worked to better the school community. I am looking forward to the many new opportunities which campus life will offer me and I know I have a lot to contribute to the various organizations. In researching the university, I am excited about a number of organizations in what their goals are and how I can get involved with them.
 
In today’s society, in particular, there is much pressure on charity and non-profit organizations to get funding for their groups. In addition to funding, these groups are also having difficulty attracting people with the proper skill set. It is well known that our economy is in a slump which has resulted in people donating less both financially and with their time to these worthy organizations. My dream is to complete my Business Degree from the University of Alberta and, in doing so, I hope to be able to expand my skill set offering charities even more than I am doing now. I would use my post-secondary Business Degree to work in these fields taking on a bigger leadership role within these organizations. In other words, I would love to offer my services and skills so that worthy charities could benefit from my education.
 
I am excited about my potential in how I will make the world around me a better place. It is gratifying to know that there are companies out there like Servus Credit Union actively participating in the community. If I am not someday working directly for some of these organizations, I plan to be associated with a similar community-minded company as Servus Credit Union. The financial and community support which Servus provides continually is a framework which other companies should follow.
