How I Plan To Make The World A Better Place
Conversing with people has always been a strongpoint within my character. Over the years I have found that many individuals seek my advice, and it occurred to me that I wanted an occupation that would further implement my gift of listening. After looking for a while, it occurred to me that pharmacy was the job for me. It is a job where I can communicate with people on a daily basis, and at the same time have the satisfaction in knowing that I am providing medication for people to feel well again.

I am also interested in the research that goes on behind the profession, and would like to find cures for various diseases such as diabetes. I believe we need more individuals to take interest in this research, so we can further save the lives of many people and therefore lower the overall mortality rate. An occupation such as this goes beyond the impossible, and I want to contribute all I can, so that we have a healthier community.

By improving the health of the population we will have more people eligible to work, and in turn this will stimulate the economy. This is another outcome I hope to see in the near future. Without medicine individuals would be unable to live as long as they do, and we would be seeing more and more unnecessary deaths. Without a healthy society we cannot possibly run a stable economy. The older generation could die off too quickly leaving us with less knowledge on research that needs continuous time and intelligence.

A final reason to why I take such an interest in this profession is so I can develop relationships with individuals that simply need a friend. There are various people who just need someone that cares, and I want to be an encouragement in their lives. I have worked as a pharmacy assistant, and realized that people of all sorts walk into the clinic. I believe this job will allow me to develop ties not only with individuals like myself, but people from various backgrounds, who just need someone to listen or talk with.

Finding cures, stimulating the economy, and the development of personal ties, are all reasons to why I desire this occupation. I have currently completed my pre-pharmacy at Red Deer College, and am eagerly applying to get into university. I am completing my pharmacy tech this year while I wait for acceptance. In the mean time I am learning all I can, in order to educate myself for the profession. Promoting good health is rewarding, knowing that you are potentially saving someone's life.
