T-Shirt Design Entry 24 – SilverniseKat G.
How does your design express the idea of building a better community?
I believe that a picture paints a thousand words. Therefore, in using pictures that I paint myself, I try to convey my messages to readers from close up and even from afar.
On the front of my shirt, a woman with blue face and green hands (symbol of Mother Nature) embraces all people no matter their races, gender, sex, etc. with no prejudice. Everyone are smiling, living happily together, which represents how people show live, treating each other with kindness, respect and consideration. Peace and acceptance should exist to build a better society. (As seen from the buildings constructed by humans) The word “Give” on the left bottom of the shirt signifies that everyone should ‘give assistance’ to each other in times of need to better the community, instead of being selfish, inconsiderate and self-centered. Only by having the full heart to give and return to the community can there be an ideal society for everyone to live in.
The plant growing taller with more leaves blossoming out from the stem characterizes that tomorrow will be a better day and the red flower (which can also be interpreted as the sun) conveys the message of happiness. The logo is on the sleeve of the shirt to give credit to the company and also be more prominent to passer-bys when they look at the shirt. Pictures are drawn on the whole shirt to make it more personalized and cute. This will make the wearer treasure them more as compared to ones that they may receive as a free gift from other companies. I believe that those that are received from conventions are too dull and unoriginal.
On the back of the shirt, the hand grasping on an earth on fire symbolizes that changing the world needs to happen soon and it depends on everyone to perform their part. The earth is screaming “help” and if no one is doing anything help save the planet, the world cannot be sustained.
